Zirkzee: "This gives tremendous boost"

INTERVIEWS With his thirteenth goal of the season, his first in six games, Joshua Zirkzee put Anderlecht on the road to victory against Antwerp. "We actually should have scored more", the Dutchman thought. "We will work on that this week".


"With the ball we were very strong today. But we should not forget that Antwerp came out of it quite often. The last ten minutes we had to work very hard. But we won and that's what matters", he told Sporza after the match.

Anderlecht had by far the most and best chances. "That's right, we had a lot of chances we should have finished off. We will work on that this week, so hopefully it will be good."

On his goal, he says this: "I get a very nice ball from Majeed. My first control is actually not ideal. That's why I have to roll it with my right foot. At that moment I know I'm going to pin it and it goes in very nicely."

In the second half, Zirkzee tried to score in a similar way, but then Butez saved. "I should have just shot it in relentlessly. It was well caught, but also a wrong choice from me. This week at training I will work on it."

In the battle for Play-Off 1 Anderlecht does an excellent job. "This gives us a huge boost. Antwerp is a direct competitor. The stadium went crazy. Now we're going to build up to next week's game against Gent. It won't be easy, but we're going to gather our self-confidence and get the best out of it."
