OTHER According to La Dernière Heure, Anderlecht is considering Lennart Mertens, a 29-year-old striker from Deinze. The striker should strengthen the U23 in 1B next season. Each U23 club would then be allowed to count two players of 30 years or older, on the condition that they didn't play with the first team yet.


Anderlecht wants to avoid a fiasco like Club NXT last season and looks at how it can give its U23 team more body. Mertens is an option. The 29-year old Mertens has been a top scorer for Deinze for years. This season he scored eleven times in 1B, last season he scored twelve goals. The years before, he scored 11, 12 and 28 times respectively.

Mertens still has a contract with Deinze until the end of next season. The U23 team of Anderlecht can still use an easy scoring striker. Only Lucas Stassin, only 17 years old, finds the way to the goal easily. Stroeykens also regularly scores goals, but he is more a part of the first team.
