Mazzu: "We were better than against Kortrijk"

INTERVIEWS While the supporters were ready for a whistling concert after the game against Charleroi, coach Felice Mazzu was not entirely dissatisfied with what his players showed. "If we play this match a hundred more times, we have to win it a hundred times," he said.


According to Mazzu, Anderlecht created enough chances and dangerous situations to score and to win. "We lacked efficiency and that's frustrating. At defining moments we made the wrong choices," he told at his press conference afterwards. Mazzu pointed out that both Silva and Esposito had great chances and that Charleroi goalkeeper Patris saved some of the goals made.

"I hope you won't finish me when I say that I can't blame my players much today," Mazzu told me. "I saw commitment and surrender. The players did everything to win. After the draw and the win against Kortrijk, I thought we were off. By the way, in my eyes, this was a better game than against Kortrijk. But then we scored four goals. Today we don't finish the chances and we are left empty-handed."

"Base solid enough to build on"

The fact is that Anderlecht has 13 out of 30 and has already lost five times in ten duels. Moreover, the tough opponents are yet to come. So naturally, Mazzu was also asked if he fears for his job. "Until now, the board has always been positive, we are on the same wavelength. However, I realize well enough that the results have to follow," the coach said.
