OTHER Anderlecht has imposed sanctions on supporter group South Leaders after they violated agreements to celebrate their 10th anniversary and set off fireworks and threw them at the pitch. The sanctions package is three-part.

"Last Sunday, one of our supporter groups (South Leaders, ed.) celebrated their tenth anniversary. The club gave permission for a number of tifos to be unrolled in Stand 2 at the start of the match. However, clear agreements were later violated when fireworks were set off in the first half. The match had to be interrupted and was resumed afterwards," Anderlecht describes the facts.

Meanwhile, purple-white sat down with the supporters' group. The club announces that three sanctions were taken:

  • The club will take civil action against persons identified as involved in the incident.
  • No more tifos, flags and megaphones will be allowed in boxes S1-S2 for the rest of the season.
  • The supporters' club will be denied access to the stadium for the next home match.

"Anderlecht would like to remind everyone that, in accordance with soccer law, fireworks and other pyrotechnic material are prohibited in Belgian soccer stadiums. The incidents of the past few weeks have resulted in sanctions that severely affect the club financially and operationally. In case of further irregularities, action will be taken again," Anderlecht reported.
