Anderlecht play draw in animated match

GAMES Anderlecht drew 2-2 in Kortrijk and with that it has to be satisfied. In a very open match, Anderlecht played an excellent first quarter of an hour, but spilled with chances. Kortrijk got better in the match, but Dreyer opened the scoring with a clever placing ball. After half-time, Kortrijk climbed up and over Purple and White who gave the match away. In the end, a Kortrijk misunderstanding still resulted in Murillo's equaliser. Anderlecht remains in the running for a place in the top eight.


After two minutes, Anderlecht had already created two opportunities. Raman kicked wide and Slimani into the side netting. After six minutes, Anderlecht should have climbed into the lead though. Murillo reached Raman via Slimani, but he failed to place the ball in a corner. After 10 minutes, the home side also had a great chance through D'Haene, although it was possibly offside. Another chance on the quarter-hour mark for Purple White. Slimani ran well, but Vandenberghe again got in the way. Just under 10 minutes later, the Algerian had another good chance, but he punted the ball wide. Meanwhile, Kortrijk had already responded through Gueye and Messaoudi.

Anderlecht had a weak moment on the half-hour and the home team pushed on. Gueye missed a cross and immediately afterwards Verbruggen tapped over a shoulder ball from Selemani. Vertonghen also cleared just in time with his head. Purple and white urgently needed to recover. It did so with brio through Anders Dreyer in the 40th minute. The Dane curled the ball beautifully into goal after a corner, finishing off Purple-White's most difficult chance. Just before half-time, Messaoudi again got too much space. Verboomen, however, did not fall for the striker's kick. Just before half-time, Henen kicked over another good chance for Kortrijk. An exciting first half with many chances for both teams.

The home team continued its good period after half-time. Anderlecht responded via a breakaway, but Raman waited too long to press. On the corner, Dreyer slipped, giving Messaoudi a boulevard of space. Sardella could do nothing more as the last pawn and Verbruggen still saved, but Kadri followed and equalised. Anderlecht had to endure the game and went head-to-head in the 66th minute. Selemani crossed after a corner and at the far post Silva was able to push in unchallenged.

Anderlecht still had just under half an hour to make up ground. Riemer brought on Amuzu, Stroeykens and Diawara. At Kortrijk, former Anderlecht player Bruno came on. Stroeykens cleverly served Amuzu, but the corner was too sharp to finish. In the 82nd minute, Purple-White received a huge gift from Kortrijk. A misunderstanding between D'Haene and Vandenberghe allowed Murillo to run with the ball. The Panamanian stayed calm and ran the 2-2 into goal. Anderlecht could even have grabbed the win in the closing stages. Slimani headed an excellent chance wide. The Algerian had been through his best for a while, though.

Anderlecht certainly had enough chances to win this match, but after the 2-1 deficit, it cannot complain with a draw in the end. After Thursday's European match, the classico against unpredictable Standard awaits.
