Verschaeren out until early 2024

INJURIES Drama for Yari Verschaeren: examination revealed that the midfielder suffered an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament of his knee yesterday against OH Leuven. He will not be able to play again until early 2024.


According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Verschaeren tore the cruciate ligament. Anderlecht reports that he will have to go under the knife. After that, months of rehabilitation await him.

For Anderlecht, this news is a huge bummer. "Yari was one of our best players this season and has played a crucial part in the positive evolution this team has gone through in recent months," responded coach Brian Riemer.

"His injury is obviously a big loss for the team, but more importantly we sympathize with Yari who will not be with us for the next few months. He is such an important part of the Anderlecht family. One thing is certain: we will do everything we can to get Yari back to his best in 2024."
