Anderlecht objects to Charleroi - KV Mechelen replay

OTHER The decision by the Disciplinary Council to replay the Charleroi - KV Mechelen match raised eyebrows. The Federal Parquet and KV Mechelen appealed but Anderlecht will also be at the table because they have a "legitimate interest" in the ruling.


Just to refresh your memory, the match between Charleroi and KV Mechelen was stopped after misbehavior by Charleroi supporters. Conclusion is obvious then you would think, loss for the Carolos with forfait figures. But the Disciplinary Council decided differently, because of procedural errors, the match has to be replayed. And this decision affects several other first division clubs.

Apart from Anderlecht, Oud-Heverlee Leuven, Cercle Brugge, Westerlo and the Pro League are also affected. They cannot appeal because they are not a direct party, but they can sit at the table as a kind of watchdog.

If the game is replayed and Charleroi wins, they'll hop over purple-white to eighth place.
