INTERVIEWS After a successful foray into the Red Devils, Jan Vertonghen has been turning his attention back to Anderlecht since Wednesday. Purple and white are fighting hard for a place among the top eight and a ticket for Play-Off 2. "The season that ends on April 23? I can't imagine it."

Sunday awaits with Eupen a team fighting against relegation. Next week, with Westerlo, a direct competitor for Play-off 2 visits. "If we get six out of six, we can nestle in Play-off 2," Vertonghen told Het Nieuwsblad. And that's a must. "I can't imagine that our season would end on April 23."

Anderlecht will have to conquer that place in the top eight, though, without playmaker Yari Verschaeren. The latter suffered a serious knee injury. "It was painful to lose him like that," Vertonghen said. "That he can't play soccer again until 2024 is terrible for him and too crazy for words."

After a difficult start at Anderlecht, Vertonghen has since become the patron of the team. How long does he want to continue? "In any case, Anderlecht will be my last club," he states. The captain still has a contract until 2024, but says he is not yet working on a possible extension of it. "First see how good I still feel next season," he states.
