Official: Contract Refaelov will not be renewed

OTHER Anderlecht has announced on its site that Lior Refaelov's contract will not be renewed. The Israeli former Golden Boot, who turned 37 earlier this week, came over from Antwerp in 2021.


Refaelov scored a total of 25 goals for Purple White in official matches. Despite his past at Club Brugge, Refaelov was immediately accepted by the supporters and played an important role with 19 goals last year. Lately, the board sat down with the player and his entourage and thus it was decided on not renewing the expiring contract.

CEO Fredberg: "Rafa is not only a class player on the pitch, but also a real gentleman off it. But right now the club has to make some decisions according to our strategy for the future."

Lior Refaelov: "I sincerely wish the club, the staff and my teammates all the best for the future and I wish nothing more than for Anderlecht to get back to where it belongs as soon as possible."
