GAMES Despite the banning of Club Brugge supporters by the mayor of Anderlecht, authorities remain alert to prevent possible disturbances. Police are working closely with clubs and supporters' associations to discourage Brugge fans from coming to the stadium. These precautions were prompted primarily by the incidents of violence that took place during the cup final two weeks ago. To ensure security, coordination has been established between different police zones, with a special security plan and deployment of drones and a helicopter.
At the same time, protests are under way against Anderlecht's president, Wouter Vandenhaute. Several supporter groups are demanding his departure and have organized an ironic “farewell party” prior to the match. While some support this action and criticize the policies of the club management, others believe it damages Anderlecht's reputation and undermines Marc Coucke's financial efforts.
Christophe Hooreman, responsible for communication with supporters at RSCA, remains cautious: “I expect many participants, but no aggression or damage. The organizers stress the playful nature of the event, but it always remains to be seen; the behavior of one person can change everything,” Hooreman said.
