YOUTH - TRANSFERS If we look from the year 2000 until now, Anderlecht youth training blows away everything and everyone in terms of transfer fees collected. Purple-White earned nearly 172 million euros from the sale of trained players. Genk comes in as number two at 94 million. Standard and Bruges are at 65 and 63 million, but especially Bruges is coming on strong in recent years.
Anderlecht benefits from its central location in the country and has been given the seal of approval because it produced some absolute world-class players. Union, also from Brussels, dangles at the bottom of the list.
More info can be read on the site of Het Nieuwsblad.
If we look purely at transfer spending over the last five years (of all players, not just youth), we see Genk achieving the most positive balance with 110 million euros in profit. Anderlecht follows in second place with 92 million. Bruges is only third with 84 million. However, the West Flemish buy and sell at higher amounts. For example, they bought in for 167 million, over 100 million more than Anderlecht. Also when selling, we see a difference of about 100 million (251 million vs. 157 million). That big difference can of course be explained by Champions League soccer.
More details on that can be found at Het Laatste Nieuws.
