David Hubert looks back on his dismissal from Anderlecht

INTERVIEWS Before the match between OH Leuven and RSC Anderlecht, OHL coach David Hubert spoke candidly about his time with the Purple & White. Hubert, who was dismissed in March 2024, emphasized that he remains grateful for the opportunities he was given at the club, even though his departure was painful.
Despite good results—including reaching the cup final, a solid European campaign, and a small gap behind the top three—Hubert had to leave unexpectedly. His dismissal even followed a victory against Cercle Brugge.

The coach had asked for a replacement for the often-injured Kasper Dolberg during the winter transfer window, but did not get one. On the contrary, players such as Amuzu and Dreyer were sold, which, according to Hubert, disrupted the balance in the team. There was also discussion about the choice of defenders, although Hubert stuck to his own decisions.
Nevertheless, the 37-year-old coach does not look back with resentment. Hubert ended his playing career there and took his first steps as head coach. His children are still fans of Anderlecht, and he even allowed the club to win the cup against Club Brugge last season.
“I always made my own choices. Whether that was to my advantage, I'll leave open to debate. But I remain grateful for the opportunity I was given at Anderlecht,” Hubert concluded.
