INTERVIEWS For interim coach Edward Still, his first evening in charge of Anderlecht was one of contrasts. The baptism of fire at the helm of the Mauve-and-white went differently than hoped, but it also offered points to build on. “It was an exceptionally intense match,” Still reflected. “It could have gone worse, but equally it could have been much better.

We should have taken control of the game earlier. We had around twenty attempts on goal, but once you're down to nine men it naturally becomes a difficult story.” He was particularly unhappy with one of the two red cards. “That second yellow for Sardella I find debatable. Not every foul has to be a yellow. I raised it with referee Visser afterwards and said I thought the decision was soft.”

Still nevertheless wanted to stress the positives. “I saw attacking patterns I hadn't noticed for weeks. It certainly wasn't perfect yet, but overall we handled it fairly well.” The goal against came at a bad moment, the coach added. “That set-piece just before half-time followed an error in the first phase. Janssen was quicker and more physical than our defenders.” Looking ahead: “There are still at least a hundred minutes to play at the Bosuil and everyone feels ready for them. We must let this go quickly and look forward,” Still concluded.
