OTHER At R.S.C. Anderlecht the feeling is growing that the club faces yet another major rebuild. After the disappointing draw with KV Mechelen, the fight for European qualification remains uncertain and the pressure on Neerpede is mounting. Supporters made their discontent clear on Sunday: Lotto Park was noticeably sparsely attended and the ultras decided not to provide active backing during the final matches of the season.

Some fans even brought a small betting tray and dice to the stadium as a cynical symbol of the malaise surrounding the club. Coach Jérémy Taravel admitted afterwards that the atmosphere was charged and said he understood the frustrations of the fanbase. All eyes are on Antoine Sibierski, the new sporting director charged with overseeing yet another reset under owner Marc Coucke. Sibierski is known for a strict approach and clear-cut decisions, and early impressions inside the club are reportedly positive. Still, he faces a difficult task. Anderlecht must strengthen the squad without certainty about European football, a factor that heavily affects the available budget. A busy summer transfer window looms, with several expected departures and the coaching situation unresolved.

Inside the club the priorities are already clear: more speed, better quality on the ball and a stronger mentality. Youngsters such as Nathan De Cat, Nathan Saliba, Mihajlo Cvetkovic and Ilay Camara are expected to have important roles, though some talents could be sold to create financial space. At the same time several expensive contracts will drop off the wage bill, with Thorgan Hazard, Yari Verschaeren and Mats Rits among those who appear to be heading for the exit.

The coming months will be crucial for Anderlecht. The club hopes to finally regain stability and sporting clarity, but is acutely aware that the margin for further mistakes has become very small.
