Kompany elected as "Best Professional Football Player"

Vincent Kompany was elected by his collegues as "Best Professional Football Player of 2005". The young Anderlecht defender succeeds his team mate Aruna Dindane on the honour list.


The 19-years old international, who already won the Golden Shoe earlier this year, ended with 407 points. The second place was for the Swedish Anderlecht midfielder Christian Wilhelmsson (230 points). The captain of Club Brugge, Timmy Simons ended 3rd with 184 points.

Kompany also received the throphee for the best youth player, just like last year. Silvio Proto (La Louvière) was elected as best goalkeeper, Trond Sollied (Brugge) as best trainer and Paul Allaerts as best referee. Anderlecht player Pär Zetterberg received the Fair-Play award.
