The club today came out with an update around ticket sales for upcoming matches. The match against Club Brugge is completely sold out, including VIP tickets. The resale starts on Friday, Jan. 10, at 10:00 a.m. via ticketing.rsca.be. General sales for the matches against KV Mechelen and Antwerp then start again today at 10:00 am. Anderlecht's U23 team prepared for the rest of the season today in the Netherlands with a friendly against Heracles. Despite a strong start, in which they took a 0-2 lead thanks to goals by Moutha-Sebtaoui and Ure, coach Jelle Coen's team eventually went down 3-2. Former Anderlecht player Gilbert 'Gille' Van Binst passed away last night in Zaventem at the age of 73. Van Binst was part of Anderlecht's top team at the end of the 1970s, which won the European Cup II twice, among other things.

Louis Patris was suspended for STVV's final game against Cercle Brugge. The game ended in a final score of 1-1. STVV are now in 14th place in the league. Anderlecht slipped considerably with a sour 2-3 defeat against Dender. It started very weak and was soon behind. Purple-White got better into the game and after half an hour it had scored twice itself through Verschaeren and Dreyer. But after halftime Anderlecht, with a substituted Hazard, dropped away completely and Dender punished the lax and too self-confident attitude of Purple-White in the closing stages. Anderlecht only had a few chances after that, but they could not avoid the painful defeat. Purple-White urgently needs to recover in January. Read more »
Thorgan was present in the stands during the match against Genk, but RSC Anderlecht's medical staff decided he could not play. The team judged that this match was not suitable for his return. However, for the final match of the calendar year against Dender, Thorgan is expected to be back in the squad. Anders Dreyer is also expected to make his return to the squad for this occasion. Anderlecht again lost 2-0 to Genk who overpowered Purple and White in all areas. A nippy Genk scored before halftime through Tolu and after halftime through Karetsas. Fortunately, the panicky Purple-White defense could count on Coosemans to prevent worse. Anderlecht only threatened a few times through Edozie, but was otherwise nowhere in attack. Another weak performance by Anderlecht in a top match.

The Dane scored once in each half (from the spot after halftime). A (unjustified?) red card by Zanka still forced Anderlecht on the defensive, but STVV didn't get any big chances, although they did regularly create danger with crosses and shots from distance.
