The phase in which Racing Genk was not allowed to retake the penalty is causing a lot of controversy. It is not even impossible that the match will have to be (partially) replayed. Not only did Sor enter the penalty area too early, but Yari Verschaeren was also too quick. And that is precisely where the shoe pinches. Anderlecht won 2-1 against a strong Genk. Purple and white played one of their weakest matches this season, although the emergency defense resisted with heart and soul. Genk was simply better in ball possession and saw the 0-1 disallowed. After halftime, Genk climbed into the lead anyway through Fadera, but Anderlecht hit back immediately through a clever shot by Leoni. Before halftime, both teams had good chances, but Schmeichel was attentive. After halftime, Antwerp increased the pressure and Anderlecht found it increasingly difficult to get out of the game. In the closing stages, a ball ended up with Ilenikhena, who scored the equalizer from close range. Dreyer put Purple and White ahead, but Kawabe just before halftime and Kanga just after halftime, ensured the Liege lead. Fifteen minutes before time, Dreyer provided the equalizer from the spot. Anderlecht won 2-0 against Standard in the Croku Cup. The match was briefly stopped at the end due to disturbances in the Standard supporters' box. Standard played well before halftime, but Stroeykens very cleverly kicked the 1-0 into goal. After halftime, Standard defended sloppily, putting Dreyer in position. The Dane did not hesitate and scored the 2-0. Standard hit the post, but after a red card for Price, the Rouches were completely out of the soup.
