TRANSFERS It appears Nathan De Cat will be playing in the Bundesliga next season. After his emotional evening at the Lotto Park yesterday, Het Laatste Nieuws now reports that De Cat visited several German clubs in recent months to hear about the projects they have in mind for him. Anyone who saw De Cat after the match against STVV yesterday could only conclude that the midfielder realised he had played his last game at the Lotto Park. Emotions and tears took over.
Which clubs De Cat visited is not known to Het Laatste Nieuws. The paper does note, however, that in recent months clubs such as Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen have been mentioned. Bayern Munich seems out of reach.
Where Anderlecht initially hoped for a transfer fee of €30–35 million, it now sounds as if the purple-and-white are counting on about €25 million. Given that De Cat has only one year left on his contract and has been turning down offers to extend since September, that would still be a respectable sum.
According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Anderlecht still holds out some hope that De Cat will play for them next season, but that would be wishful thinking. After the lost cup final, a meeting took place between CEO Kenneth Bornauw, sporting director Antoine Sibierski and De Cat's entourage.
