YOUTH Jayden Onia Seke is part of the group called up for the U17 World Cup with Belgium, but the Mauves do not want to release their player. Onia Seke is part of the A squad and is currently breaking through there. Three other Anderlecht players were also included in the selection: Noa Cobiella Ojea, Joshua Nga Kana and Noah Kalonji. They, too, will not be able to take part in the tournament, as they are needed to help RSC Anderlecht Futures in the fight to avoid relegation.
There is still room for negotiation, as was the case last season with Nathan De Cat, but the chances are slim that the club will backtrack on what it has communicated to the Belgian FA. Anderlecht is not obliged to release its players for this competition, as it is not part of an official FIFA tournament. Simon Mignolet, sporting manager at the Belgian Football Association, has reacted very negatively to that decision and is barring these four players from being included in Belgium's U19 squad during the next international break. Ilias Benktib and Rune Verstrepen will be able to take part in that tournament if they are in the Belgian selection. Mattis Seghers is currently injured.
