After the last home game of 2024 against Dender, the pitch at Lotto Park will be renewed. Starting Dec. 28, the current turf will be excavated and a new sand base laid. New turf, coming from Italy and delivered by a Swiss company, will be installed in early January. At the Pro League general assembly, the professional clubs reached an agreement on the TV contract for the next five years. DAZN, the current rights holder, has reacquired the broadcasting rights for Belgian professional soccer, but is paying a lower sum than in the previous contract from 2020. The new contract, worth at least 91 million euros per season, includes live rights for several leagues and events, including the Jupiler Pro League and the Croky Cup. Soccer club Deinze was declared bankrupt today by the Enterprise Court in Ghent, after months of financial problems. The club, which became entangled in an acquisition dispute this season, was unable to pay off its debts. Hopes of a rescue by Luxembourg-based AAD Invest Group, headed by Doudou Cissé, proved unfounded. Despite promises to players and staff, the financial situation continued to deteriorate, resulting in unpaid bills and a transfer freeze, and thus bankruptcy. Read more »
