Frutos: 'Hubert has made Dolberg better'

Frutos: 'Hubert has made Dolberg better'

Kasper Dolberg has understood his responsibilities within Anderlecht's team, according to Nicolas Frutos. In addition to his technical skills, the striker has now developed a positive mindset, thanks in part to the guidance of David Hubert. Under Brian Riemer's previous policy, Dolberg had to put a lot of energy into secondary tasks, such as dropping back into the game and filling spaces on the sides. This led to a less efficient use of his qualities.

Anderlecht takes deserved win in Limburg

Anderlecht takes deserved win in Limburg

Anderlecht returned from St-Truiden with a 0-2 win. Purple and white didn't play great, but it had enough of Dolberg's strikers to settle the score in their favor tonight. The Dane scored once in each half (from the spot after halftime). A (unjustified?) red card by Zanka still forced Anderlecht on the defensive, but STVV didn't get any big chances, although they did regularly create danger with crosses and shots from distance.  Read more »

Verschaeren may have to play with extra protection. Read more »

Injury update: will RSCA recover anyone against STVV?

The long-term injured will also not return against the Canaries. These include Ashimeru, Vertonghen, Hazard, Stroeykens and Sardella. Samuel Edozie was actually expected back, but will probably not make it to Sunday's game either (although that is not out of the question). Verschaeren is undergoing scans today but he will probably not be able to play. Read more »

Verschaeren left stadium with brace

Verschaeren left stadium with brace

Yari Verschaeren played an excellent first half yesterday but stayed in at halftime with a shoulder or collarbone injury. The midfielder left the stadium with a brace and his look betrayed volumes. A scan has yet to bring clarity, but initial impressions point to a somewhat more serious injury. Verschaeren will probably be out for a while. How Hubert will resolve this is unclear for now. Coach David Hubert, however, must miss several key players. Jan Vertonghen, Thorgan Hazard, Mario Stroeykens, Killian Sardella, Majeed Ashimeru, Samuel Edozie, Tristan Degreef and Marco Kana are all injured or rehabbing. Foket, in turn, is on one yellow cardboard from a suspension day. Read more »

Hazard aims for comeback against Dender

Hazard aims for comeback against Dender

After an eight-month absence due to injury, Thorgan Hazard looks set to celebrate his return to the field. The Anderlecht player could make his return during the last home game of the year, on Dec. 27 against Dender. With the injuries to Killian Sardella and Mario Stroeykens, that would be a welcome reinforcement. Hazard has had a tough time after suffering a cruciate ligament tear in his right knee, suffered during the playoff game against Union in April. Read more »

Degreef probably has contracture

Degreef probably has contracture

Tristan Degreef suffered a hamstring injury during the game against Westerlo and had to leave the field after 38 minutes. David Hubert, the coach, indicated that it was probably a contracture, but remained cautious until there is a final decision. As such, the injury might not be too bad, but it seems that Degreef will not be able to play Sunday against Beerschot. The club does not want to take any unnecessary risks with the player and still has Amuzu and Verschaeren in reserve. Edozie seems to have recovered, but may be spared on Sunday. Read more »
