YOUTH Now that one youngster breaks through after another in the first team of Anderlecht we went to see who is still in the waiting room of Neerpede. Today: the generation of '01.

The generation of 2001 takes the title almost every year and in principle has a lot more talent than that of a year older. Six players of this year signed their first professional contract at Anderlecht in early May.

Yari Verschaeren

Verschaeren exchanged Kruibeke for Anderlecht at the age of nine. He is a small but technically sophisticated central midfielder and has been voted best player at several international tournaments.

Several foreign clubs wanted to get him in, but unlike Maxime Delanghe (PSV) and Nicolas Raskin (Ghent), he remained loyal to Anderlecht. Verschaeren is perhaps the greatest talent from the 2001 generation.

Lucas Lissens

Lissens played for Lennik and Dender in the youth before going to Anderlecht. He can handle both the center of the back and midfield. He is technically very strong, but his starting speed is his weak point.

Loïc Masscho

Masscho arrived in 2014 from AA Gent. It is a small but sturdy and versatile boy with good technique. He already played at different positions, but now seems to be settling at Anderlecht as well as the national team on the right back.

Halim Timassi

Timassi has been playing for Anderlecht for a long time. Last season he made a lot of progress and he became for the first time youth international. He is a large, somewhat static midfielder with a huge volume, which has to take technical steps. He is sometimes compared to Marouane Fellaini.

Mathis Suray

Mathis is the son of former Anderlecht player Olivier Suray. He came over from Charleroi in 2012 and can play as attacker or attacking midfielder. He is very fast, has good technique and finds the way to goal.

Antoine Colassin

Like Suray, he can play both as an attacking midfielder or as a striker. Came from Charleroi in 2016, although Mehdi Bayat quickly expected him in the A-core.
