OTHER Silvio Proto has always followed Anderlecht closely, even after he ended his playing career. As an analyst, he regularly criticized the club in the past because he felt the team had lost its identity.
According to the former goalkeeper, Anderlecht has slipped too far in recent years. “It hurt to see how the club lost its level,” he admits. However, he now sees signs of improvement since the arrival of a new management team.

However, he believes that one important element is still missing: a trophy. “We need a prize to definitively regain confidence,” he says. He compares the situation to Union, which, according to him, only really believed in its own potential after winning an important cup match.
Proto wants to see a change in the mentality within the club. “If you lose too often, it almost becomes normal. Anderlecht must learn to win again.”
As a former captain, he also feels it is his duty to remind the current players of what the club means. “Anderlecht is an institution with a tremendous history. The players must realize that every day.”
