OTHER Since Jérémy Taravel temporarily took over the reins at Anderlecht, the team appears to have come back to life. The Brussels side picked up 7 points from a possible 9 in the league and have been finding the net with ease, scoring thirteen goals in four matches.
According to Adriano Bertaccini, Taravel's approach plays a major role: the interim coach quickly found a system that works, with Thorgan Hazard among those deployed as a false nine. But it is above all the way Taravel deals with the players that impresses.
“He talks to us a lot and brings fun to training,” Bertaccini says. The sessions have become more competitive and players are challenging each other more often. There are even small bets during finishing drills: the loser has to clean the winner's boots. Bertaccini laughs when he says he hasn't had to do that yet.
Within the group almost nobody calls Taravel “coach.” Still, the striker stresses he can be strict when necessary. “If something doesn't please him, he makes that clear.” Bertaccini believes Taravel certainly deserves a chance to remain head coach for longer, although the future will depend on the long-term results.
