OTHER Herman Van Holsbeeck, the former Anderlecht manager, has volunteered at Rhodienne-De Hoek while awaiting his trial. Eight years after leaving professional football, Van Holsbeeck has resurfaced at the sidelines of KFC Rhodienne-De Hoek's youth pitches. The ex-RSCA chief is acting there as a volunteer adviser. It was his grandson Eliyah, a player at the club, who brought him back to the field.
Step by step Van Holsbeeck began supporting the youth coordinators, offering his experienced eye and extensive network. The club, ambitious in developing its youngsters, sees him as a valuable reinforcement. “I put football aside for a long time, but you can't go against your nature,” he said.
The trial on the sale of Anderlecht still hangs over him. He is on trial alongside Jo Van Biesbroeck and agent Christophe Henrotay. He continues to deny any fraud and has never accepted a criminal settlement. The case will be resumed at the end of May and the beginning of June, including charges of forgery. “I reject all those allegations,” he insisted.
At Rhodienne, Van Holsbeeck helped set up a distinctive camp to prepare youngsters for professional football. There are sessions led by experienced coaches, video analysis, ice-bath recovery, tailored meals, the presence of a DAZN team, and even some rewards. The club aims to grow through its youth, which already includes the children of several professional players. Van Holsbeeck will assist the club in that process.
