Former Anderlecht player Gilbert 'Gille' Van Binst passed away last night in Zaventem at the age of 73. Van Binst was part of Anderlecht's top team at the end of the 1970s, which won the European Cup II twice, among other things.

David Hubert has suffered two consecutive defeats in the league, first against Genk and then against Dender. This marks a disappointing end to 2024, especially considering his start. His current statistics are less positive than those of his predecessor, Brian Riemer, with a 53.8% point percentage compared to Riemers 59.8%. La Dernière Heure calculated that. Hubert started with a draw against Charleroi and Dender, but also lost to Dender, Genk, Brugge and Beerschot. Another draw was played against OHL. Read more »

Decision on pitch has been made

After the last home game of 2024 against Dender, the pitch at Lotto Park will be renewed. Starting Dec. 28, the current turf will be excavated and a new sand base laid. New turf, coming from Italy and delivered by a Swiss company, will be installed in early January. For the home game against Club Brugge on January 12, the renewed field will be ready, so that the rest of the season can be played in optimal conditions. Read more »

New TV contract approved, but lower amount

At the Pro League general assembly, the professional clubs reached an agreement on the TV contract for the next five years. DAZN, the current rights holder, has reacquired the broadcasting rights for Belgian professional soccer, but is paying a lower sum than in the previous contract from 2020. The new contract, worth at least 91 million euros per season, includes live rights for several leagues and events, including the Jupiler Pro League and the Croky Cup. In addition, the Pro League is entitled to a share of DAZN's additional revenue. Read more »

Solution for pitch not until this summer

The board of RSC Anderlecht is considering a temporary solution to its turf problems. Indeed, the current situation offers little room, as only 16 days are available between the match on Dec. 27 and the next one on Jan. 12. A thorough approach to the field is ideally planned for the summer vacation, with a cost estimate of more than 1 million euros. However, this project requires 12 weeks on the turf to strengthen, while the playoffs end on May 26 and the new league begins as early as the end of July. Read more »

The club believes that the referee, Lothar D'Hondt, acted too quickly in penalizing the Danish player for an intervention on Ferrari. Official: Deinze deleted, Futures benefit

Soccer club Deinze was declared bankrupt today by the Enterprise Court in Ghent, after months of financial problems. The club, which became entangled in an acquisition dispute this season, was unable to pay off its debts. Hopes of a rescue by Luxembourg-based AAD Invest Group, headed by Doudou Cissé, proved unfounded. Despite promises to players and staff, the financial situation continued to deteriorate, resulting in unpaid bills and a transfer freeze, and thus bankruptcy. Read more »
