Official: Sibierski is the new Sporting Director

As expected, 51-year-old Frenchman Antoine Sibierski has been appointed Anderlecht's new Sporting Director. He will take the reins of sporting policy across all professional teams and will also oversee the scouting and performance departments (first team, Futures and Women). Sibierski played as an attacking midfielder for Auxerre, Nantes and Lens, and later in England for Manchester City, Newcastle and Wigan. For the past two seasons he was Sporting Director at ESTAC Troyes; Troyes secured promotion to Ligue 1 this season. Read more »

After a twenty-year collaboration, RSC Anderlecht and the Sint-Guido-Instituut are going their separate ways. The school, which gained national attention in 2011 thanks to the TV series The School of Lukaku, is thus ending a long-standing relationship with the club. Futures finish the season with a 5-0 win

RSCA Futures closed a difficult season on a high with a 5-0 win over Olympic Charleroi, the bottom club in the Challenger Pro League. The Futures thus finish a disappointing fourteenth, although they are still ten points clear of second-bottom Club NXT. Thanks to the league's rules, Anderlecht was never in real danger of relegation — relegation would have required another U23 club to go up, which did not occur. Herman Van Holsbeeck, the former Anderlecht manager, has volunteered at Rhodienne-De Hoek while awaiting his trial. U23 teams can relegate next season

Under pressure from a ruling by the Belgian Competition Authority, the Pro League has adjusted the rules for U23 teams in 1B. From next season they will also be eligible for relegation. This season, however, remains unchanged. Any U23 side that is relegated must be replaced by another U23 team promoted from the amateur divisions, ensuring that four development teams remain active at the country's second professional level.
