Engwanda: 'Futures ideal path to the first team'

Engwanda: 'Futures ideal path to the first team'

At the end of 2024 Nunzio Engwanda got a few tastes of Anderlecht's first team. Afterwards he faded from view, but with the RSCA Futures he remains a key player. In a conversation with Het Nieuwsblad he comes across as ambitious but patient. "My goal is to make the first team and I am convinced that RSCA Futures is the ideal route to get there." "I'm satisfied with the progress I've already made," says the youngest of the Engwanda brothers. Read more »

Only one team has did worse in the second half of the season

Only one team has did worse in the second half of the season

Anderlecht have now gone seven competitive matches without a win. Since the Second World War that has happened only three times, Het Nieuwsblad found. Once in the 1970s and twice during the period Vincent Kompany was in charge. The last time Anderlecht won a league game was on 13 December; since then there have been three draws and four defeats — seven games without victory in total. Read more »

Anderlecht stuck at 0-0 again

Anderlecht stuck at 0-0 again

The rebirth of Anderlecht remains, for now, a one?hit wonder, because in the league we again saw the uninspired Anderlecht of recent weeks. The team had a brief better spell in each half during which it, especially after the break, could and should have scored through Camara and Sikan. Once again a major disappointment, because La Louvière never threatened at all. The purple and whites have now gone four league matches without scoring. Read more »

Taravel: “I want to go back to simple solutions”

Jeremy Taravel is proud of the trust that RSC Anderlecht has placed in him by entrusting him with the role of T1. In his own words, he has worked hard to prepare the team for the trip to Antwerp. He also received an offer to join Edward Still at Watford: “but I never intended to leave Anderlecht,” he said. Taravel is grateful for the opportunity he has been given and feels at home in Brussels, although he realizes that his life as head coach is unlikely to last long. Read more »

Anderlecht fully committed to Kindermans' return

Anderlecht fully committed to Kindermans' return

Three key positions are currently vacant at Anderlecht: sports director, head coach, and head of youth development. Jean Kindermans is the leading candidate for the latter position. About two years after his departure from Neerpede, a return to RSCA seems possible, where he played an important role in the development of great talents such as Romelu Lukaku, Youri Tielemans, and Zeno Debast in the past. Biglia: 'Not a family issue'

Lucas Biglia has explained his departure as assistant coach at Anderlecht. The 40-year-old Argentine resigned on Friday after head coach Besnik Hasi was sacked. According to Biglia, his decision was purely out of loyalty, not for family reasons as had been suggested.  Read more »

Marc Coucke on Anderlecht's situation

Marc Coucke has spoken out about the persistent problems at RSC Anderlecht. In the Play4 programme De Tafel van Gert the owner of the purple-and-white went into detail on the coaching situation, the departure of sporting director Olivier Renard, the cup tie at Antwerp and the future of Romelu Lukaku. The Kompany chapter was also discussed at length. "If he had stayed, everything would look different today." Although Coucke was absent in Genk on Sunday, where Anderlecht suffered another heavy defeat, he did not keep silent. Read more »

Controversial goal leads to another defeat

Controversial goal leads to another defeat

Anderlecht lost again, this time 2-0 in Genk. A contentious goal in the 68th minute set the tone for the defeat: a clear foul on Saliba in the build-up was not punished, and shortly afterwards Genk doubled their lead. Anderlecht hardly looked like turning the game around and only mustered a chance in stoppage time. This time Anderlecht were not to blame for an individual error or a poor spell; they were unlucky with a refereeing decision. Read more »

Preview: Genk - Anderlecht

Preview: Genk - Anderlecht

After another setback against Antwerp in the Croky Cup, Anderlecht must travel to Racing Genk. The Limburg side are underperforming relative to expectations, but they remain active in Europe. Still will in any case be without De Cat, who is suspended, so he will once again have to reshuffle his team. There are also several question marks because a number of players are in a form crisis. De Cat remains hopeful despite a disappointing result

Nathan De Cat could not hide his disappointment after the match. "The result is obviously not what we had hoped for," he admitted. "But if you look at the whole game, we put in a decent performance. Compared with recent weeks we created more chances and took the game to the opponent more often." The youngster from Neerpede did see clear room for improvement. Read more »

Anderlecht also narrowly beaten in the Croky Cup

Anderlecht also narrowly beaten in the Croky Cup

Anderlecht lost 0-1 in the first leg of the Croky Cup semi-final. Antwerp will be the most aggrieved: they finished the match with nine men after red cards for Sardella (second yellow) and Diarra. An once again desperately weak Anderlecht did show some commitment, but suffered from a clear lack of quality. It created only half-chances, meaning a near-miracle will be required next week at the Bosuil. Read more »

Marco Kana out again for a few weeks

Bad luck again for Marco Kana. The defender had to come off injured on Sunday at Standard and the verdict is harsh: a muscle tear in his thigh. The centre-back will be sidelined for several weeks. Will Still, Besnik Hasi's successor, will therefore have to reshuffle his defence. Read more »

Opinion: Who after Hasi?

Opinion: Who after Hasi?

The curtain has fallen for Besnik Hasi. After the demoralising display at Standard and the consequent defeat, his dismissal was inevitable. Now the question arises: which coach can actually get this Anderlecht back on track? We don't know, but we'll take a little punt at his successor. Read more »

Defeat deals Anderlecht a heavy blow

Defeat deals Anderlecht a heavy blow

Anderlecht lost the 'clasico' 2-0 and have collected just two points out of fifteen now. Standard, the side that showed more commitment, took full advantage twice of poor defending from the Mauves: once around the half-hour mark, once just after the break. Anderlecht failed to take their moments through Bertaccini — scoring remains a major problem — and qualification for Play-Off 1 is now in acute danger. Anderlecht can be caught up with on the next matchday. Read more »

At his press conference ahead of the match against Standard, Besnik Hasi provided an update on his injured players. Why Özcan's loan was a panic signing

Why Özcan's loan was a panic signing

Anderlecht ended its collaboration with 19-year-old defender Yasin Özcan after six months, deeming the arrangement neither sportingly nor financially viable. Özcan had arrived on loan from Aston Villa for a total fee of €300,000; only half of that (€150,000) was paid, the remaining tranche was waived due to the premature departure. Anderlecht also covered an annual salary of roughly €1 million; because Özcan left after half a season, the club reportedly saved about €450,000 in wage costs. In total, his stay is estimated to have cost Anderlecht around €700,000 (approximately €150,000 in loan fees and €550,000 in wages), while Özcan was scarcely used. Read more »

Ashimeru hopes to put himself back in the spotlight at La Louvière, not least to catch attention of Ghana's national coach with an eye on the World Cup. Read more »

Three points looked secure, but the Futures gave them away at the end

Three points looked secure, but the Futures gave them away at the end

RSCA Futures drew 2-2 against Lierse yesterday evening. Jayden Onia Seke seemed to have handed Anderlecht all three points in extra time, but two minutes later Lierse struck back to level the score — and they did so despite having been reduced to nine men. Lierse confirmed the signing of Alexandre Stani? today, and the newcomer opened the scoring in his very first match following an error by keeper Imbrechts. The Futures created the bulk of the chances, but finding the net proved surprisingly difficult. Read more »

The Wolves have Fall on loan from Metz this season, and the French club reportedly wants to recall him this winter to strengthen their own attack. Fall missed the first part of the season with a serious knee injury and only returned in mid-September.
